This is the last Will and testament of me Thomas Stredwick of Hellingly in this County of Sussex xxx that is to say

[ First my will is that all such debts as I shall justly owe at the time of my decease my Funeral Expenses and Charges and the charges of proving and executing this my will shall be fully paid and satisfied by my executors hereafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease from and out of my Personal Estate

And I give devise and bequeath all and every my messuages buildings lands tenements hereditaments and real estate whatsoever and wheresoever with their and every of them Rights Members and appurtenances And also all the rest Residue and Remainder of my goods Chattells Effects Monies securities for money Rights Credits and personalk Estate whatsoever and wheresoever after payment of my said just debts and funeral and testamentary Expenses unto my wife Jane Stredwick and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life in case she so long remains a widow and unmarried ]

And from and immediately after her decease or re marriage which shall first happen I give devise and bequeath the same messuages buildings Lands Tenements Hereditaments and real Estate Goods Chattells Effects Monies Securities for Money Rights Credits and Personal Estate unto my Son-in-Law Richard Hasting and my Brother-in-Law George Gander their heirs Executors and Administrators for ever upon the several trusts nevertheless hereinafter declared or expressed of and concerning the same

That is to say Upon trust that they the said Richard Hasting and George Gander or the survivor of them or the heirs and executors or administrators of such survivor shall and do as soon as conveniently may be after the decease or re marriage of my said wife which shall first happen absolutely sell and dispose of my said Messuages Buildings Lands Tenements Hereditaments and real Estate together with such part or parts of my said Personal estate as shall be of a saleable nature for the best price or prices that can be reasonably had or obtained for the same either by public auction or private contract and either together or in lots or parcels as they my said trustees or the survivor of them or the heirs and executors or administrators of such survivor shall in their or his discretion think most advisable

And as to the monies which shall arise and be produced by and from such sale or sales together with the rents issues and profits of my said real estate and after the decease or re marriage of my said wife in the mean time and until the sale and disposition thereof and also such debts or monies as shall from part of my said personal estate upon trust to pay distribute and divide the same unto and between such of the children of my daughter Catherine Hasting as shall be then living and the issue of such of them as shall be then dead (such issue taking the share their parent or respective parents would have been entitled to if living ) in equal shares and proportions to and for their several and respective use and uses

And in order to facilitate the sale and disposition of my said Real Estate pursuant to this my will I do hereby expressly declare and direct that the puchaser or purchasers thereof shall not be compelled or compellable to see to the application of his her or their purchase money or purchase monies or any part thereof make answerable or accountable for the use misapplication or nonapplication thereof or any part thereof but that such purchaser or purchasers shall be absolutely discharged therefrom upon payment of such his her or their purchase money or purchase monies unto the said Richard Hasting and George Gander or the survivor of them or the heirs of such survivor any rule in law or equity to the contrary notwithstanding

And I nominate constitute and appoint the said Richard Hasting and George Gander joint executors of this my last will and testament

And I do hereby expressly declare and direct that they my said executors and trustees shall not be charged or chargeable with or accountable for any more of my monies estate or effects than they shall respectively actually receive or shall come to their respective hands by virtue of this my will nor with or for any loss which may happen of such monies estate or effects or any part thereof so as such loss do not happen by or through their or either of their wilful default or neglect nor shall either of them my said executors and trustees be answerable or accountable for the other of them but each of them for himself and for his own acts deeds receipts defaults and disbursements only

And further that it shall be lawful to and for my said executors and trustees to retain and to reimburse themselves respectively from and out of my said monies Estate and effects all such loss costs charges damages and expenses as they shall respectively sustain bear pay expend or be put unto in the execution of this my will or on or about any other matter or thing in any wise relating thereunto

And Lastly I hereby revoke all former wills by me at any time heretofore made and declare this only to be my last will and testament

In witness whereof I the said Thomas Stredwick have hereunto set my hand the third day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight Hundred and Forty three Thomas Stredwick
