In the name of God Amen I Henry Struddicke of Lewes in the County of Sussex Victualler being weak and sick in Body but of sound and perfect mind & memory (thanks be to god for the same) do make and ordain this my last will & testamt in writing in manner & forme ffollowing (that is to say)

Ffirst and principally I resigne my soule into the hands of Allmighty God my Creator hoping through the merritts death and passion of Jesus Christ my blessed Saviour & Redeemer to receive full pardon & forgiveness of all my sins

And my body I committ to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Extrix and Extor hereinafter named

And as touching such Estate as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I give & dispose thereof as followeth Imprimis

I give and bequeath unto my Son Richard Struddick one shilling to be paid unto him within Six months after my decease by mt sd Extrix and Extor

Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Taylor One Shilling to be paid unto her in like manner

Item I give & devise unto Alice my dear & Loving wife all that my messuage & tenement Garden Stable & appurtenances thereunto belonging commonly called or known by the name of the Dog situate lying & being in the parish of St Peter & xxxxx in Lewes aforesaid now in my own occupation to hold to the said Alice my wife & her assignes for & during the term of her natural life

And from & after her decease I give the said messuage or tenement Garden Stable & premises with the appurtenances to my son William Streddicke and to his heirs and assigns forever

Upon condition nevertheless that my said son William Streddicke his heirs or assigns shall within six months next after mine & my wifes decease pay unto my four daughters out of the said messuage or tenement Garden Stable & premises & the psonall estate which shall remain after my said wifes decease the several legacies which I shall hereinafter give unto them vizt.

I give & bequeath unto my daughter Anne Streddick the summe of twenty pounds of lawfull money of great Britaine

Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Mary Streddick the summe of thirty pounds of like lawfull money

Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Alice Streddick the summe of twenty pounds of like lawfull money

Item i give & bequeath unto my daughter Susanna Streddick the summe of twenty pounds of like lawfull money & my will is that if any of my said four daughters shall happen to dye before her legacy shall become payable then the legacy of her or them so dying shall be paid to the survivors of them share & share alike

And my further will and mind is that if my said Son William Streddick shall neglect or refuse to pay my said daughters their severall & respective legacies after my wifes decease as aforesaid or any of them then I give full power to & for my my sd daughters or any of them to enter upon the said messuage Garden Stable and premises & to hold & enjoy the same untill they shall be be paid their sevl & respective legacies according to the true intent & meaning of this my will

All the rest & residue of my goods chattells & personall estate whatsoever my debts legacies & funerall expenses being first paid & discharged I give unto the sd Alice my loving wife during the term of her naturall life & after her decease to my son William Streddicke

And I do hereby make constitute & appoint my said wife Alice Streddicke & my son William Streddick Extrix & Extor of this my last will & testament

And I do hereby revoke all fformer wills by me at any time heretofore made & declare this only to be my last will & testament

In witness whereof I the said Henry Streddick have hereunto sett my hand & seale the seventeenth day of October in the Eleventh year of the reigne of Or Sovereigne Lord George by the Grace of God King of Great Britaine & Anno Dm 1724 (the mark of Henry Streddick)

Signed sealed published & declared by the said Henry Struddick the testator for & as his last will & testament in the psence of us who subscribed our names as witnesses hereto in the psence of the sd testor Jane Halsted Richd Halsted John Holforde
