This is the last Will and Testament of me Samuel Strudwick of the Parish of Dorking in the County of Surrey Yeoman being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding
I give and devise unto my son James Strudwick all that my freehold messuage in two tenements now in my own occupation and in the occupation of my said son James Strudwick with all the outbuildings and appurtenances thereto belonging with the land thereunto attached as distinguished by a green colour on the plan hereon laid down and which is situate lying and being adjoining the Hamxxxx common in the said Parish of Dorking to have and to hold the said messuage and premises with the appurtenances unto him the said James Strudwick his heirs and assigns for ever

I give and devise unto my daughter Elizabeth Darby all that freehold cottage in two tenements now in her occupation and her undertenants and also a part of my orchard with all outbuildings and other appurtenances thereto belonging all of which premises are coloured red on the plan hereon laid down and are adjoining that herein before devised unto my said son to have and to hold unto her my daughter for ever

I give and devise unto my daughter Sophie the wife of Thomas Burdfield als Knight all that freehold dwelling house known as the xxxyers Arms with all the buildings belonging thereto and the land occupied therewith and also all other portion of land with the Brick built Chapel and Timber built xxx House thereon all of which said premises are coloured blue on the plan hereon laid down and adjoining the other premises herein before devised to my other two children to have and to hold freehold premises unto her the said Sophia Burdfield Knight her heirs and assigns for ever

I give and bequeath to my daughter in law Sarah Biggs widow the sum of thirty pounds

I give and bequeath James Biggs son of Sarah Biggs aforesaid the sum of five pounds

I give and bequeath to my two nephews Richard and Samuel and my neice Caroline the sons and daughter of my brother Henry Strudwick the sum of five pounds each and to my housekeeper Maria Dudley widow I give and bequeath the sum of nineteen guineas all of these several legacies to be paid to the said respective persons in good and lawful money of Great Britain within six calendar months after my decease

I give and bequeath to my son James Strudwick aforesaid and to my son in law Thomas Burdfield Knight my executors hereinafter named all and every my ready money stocks funds and securities for money my household furniture and all other other my personal estate and effects what soever and wheresoever which I shall die possessed of or entitled to or else which shall be any way due oweing or aloughing to me at the time of my decease and every part thereof, upon trust that they the said James Strudwick and Thomas Burdfield Knight or the survivor of them or the executor or administrator of such survivor do so soon after my decease as shall seem to them most fit and convenient sell and convert into money all such part of my personal estate as shall not consist of money and collect get in and receive all such part thereof as shall consist of money and securities for money

And by and out of the produce of such sale and the monies so collected got in and received in the first place to pay and satisfy all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses the several legacies to the respective persons hereinbefore named to their heirs executors and administrators or assigns the costs and charges of proving this my will and all other reasonable and necessary costs and charges damages and expenses as they my said executors or the survivor of them or the executor or administrator of such survivor shall pay expend or incur in the performance of this my will or any matter or thing relative or incident thereto

And the clear residue divide among and between my three children aforesaid namely James Strudwick Elizabeth Darby widow and Sophia wife of Thomas Burdfield Knight their heirs executors administrators or assigns in equal shares and proportions share and share alike

And lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said James Strudwick and Thomas Burdfield Knight as joint executors of this my will

And hereby revoking and making void all former and other wills or will by me heretofore made do hereby publish and declare this only to be and contain my last will and testament

In witness whereof I the said Samuel Strudwick the testator have to this my last will and testament contained in three sides or pages of this sheet of paper whereon the plan of my freehold estate in laid down to the first two sides or pages thereof have inscribed my name and affixed my seal this eleventh day of January in the year of our lord 1845 Samuel Strudwick

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Samuel Strudwick the testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses William Xxxxx xxx xxx xxx of Dorking John Charles of Newxxxgate
